Duke of Edinburgh Award

Young Enterprise NI is an Approved Activity Provider for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.  Students are able to complete their skills section of the award if they are taking part in our company or team programme.

The Young Enterprise Company Programme gives young people the opportunity to setup a student company in an academic year under the guidance of a

business adviser.  Young people make all the decisions from deciding on the company name and product to managing the company finances, selling to the public at trade fairs and ultimately winding up their company and paying taxes.

The Team Programme is the only programme of its kind in the UK and is specially designed to help young people with additional needs to learn about business and set up their own student company.  Young people interact with adults and grow in confidence as they set up and run their own enterprise guided every step of the way by a business adviser.

It should be noted that in using a Young Enterprise programme experience as a skill for the Duke of Edinburgh Award that participants cannot profit from the experience financially – any profit made is shared between company members.
