combination of ideas. Perhaps some of the following questions will help. How you answer them might help you craft a solution that fits your particular situation. |
-
You are the Managing Director. Do you have a Director of Human Resources? Have you discussed this situation with him/her? What additional ideas can the two of you try?
- Are you and your management team respected? Do you set an example the students respect? Do you set the pace you expect?
- Has your company set goals? Has each person set a goal?
- Would a separate morale officer who students respond to help the situation?
- Have the other students been adequately trained? Do they know and understand their responsibilities? See if you can identify exactly what the students aren't responding to. Is it stock sales? Why? Is it production? Why?
- If particular students are having difficulty, could they be teamed with other students who could help them along?
- Do you have a mismatch of student skills/interest with the jobs assigned to them? Do you need to reassign some roles?
- Do you or some of your Directors need to work on your leadership skills?
- Businesses sometimes have to make tough choices. Are there particular students, popular or not, who need to be replaced? It's hard to fire our friends, but you may be doing them a favor.
- Discuss your feelings with your teachers or volunteers. What suggestions do they have? They should be advising you and helping you succeed.
