Making Your Company An Ethical One

Every company is part of the community they are in – and making sure they take into account the impact of their decisions on this wider community is key to being a good corporate citizen. Have you considered the impact of your decisions on all your stakeholders?

  • Customers – Are they getting value for money? Do you guarantee your product? Are you honest about what it does?
  • Suppliers – Are you open with them, negotiating in good faith? Are you making sure that you understand their business concerns?
  • Employees – Are they getting a fair day’s pay for a fair day’s work? Is there a grievance process and negotiation procedures and policies?
  • Board of Directors – Are there codes of conduct in place? Are there procedures and policies about insider dealings?
  • Local Authority – Do you take into the account the environmental impact of your manufacturing process? What about packaging – is it biodegradable? Are you concerned about sustainable development?
  • Wider Community – Are you good corporate citizen within your community? Do you give back to the community in the form of charity or volunteer work?
  • Media – Are you open and honest with the media so that they can keep the public honestly informed? Do you give them access to your directors and your dealings?
  • Regulatory Authorities – Do you pay your taxes on time? Do you have proper accounting and reporting procedures in place? Is your company governed according to best corporate governance practice?
