Your Young Enterprise experience can strengthen your personal statement and work experience section. Use the guidance below to describe what you did, what you learned and how it connects to your future plans.

Personal Statement Guidance

Select each area to explore how to present your experience clearly.

SKILLS Focus on Skills View Guidance

Discuss the key skills you developed, such as leadership, financial management, marketing, teamwork and overcoming challenges.

Consider mentioning:

A skill you developed, when you used it and how it will help you in your future study or career.

REFLECTION Be Reflective View Guidance

Rather than listing tasks, explain what you learned from running the company, particularly through business planning and product development.

Consider mentioning:

A challenge you faced, what you learned from it and how your approach changed as a result.

YOUR COURSE Connect to Your Course View Guidance

Relate your Young Enterprise experience to the university course you are applying for, for example through management, creativity or problem-solving.

Consider mentioning:

Why the experience increased your interest in your chosen subject or prepared you for further study.

YOUR ROLE Mention Specifics View Guidance

Include your role within the student company and describe any ways you supported other members of the group.

Consider mentioning:

Your responsibilities, any decisions you contributed to and the difference your involvement made.
